A little redecoration

For Grace's birthday, several of us went together and got her things to redecorate her room. We got new bedding, a few new decorations and the promise to paint and rearrange. She was most excited about rearranging! Kara got her a cool bowl chair for reading and she really liked her new bedding (which she picked out). Grandma Ellen came over and helped me paint. We ended up hating the color! It was supposed to be a medium gray and it looked blue. It was horrible. We spent another Saturday repainting. It is a much lighter gray and actually looks gray.

Before - the closet.

 Before - the south wall.
 Before - the north wall.

And.......AFTER!

East wall - you can see we moved the bed!

One rainy afternoon while the boys were gone, she and I made this canvas. We painted and glittered - very fun and a fun girls' afternoon.
Some cute posters I ordered on Etsy.
The north wall. Notice the chair from Kara!
The closet after. New baskets and cleaned/reorganized. Much better!

The south wall. We got new adhesive butterflies on the wall, a new lamp, Grandma sewed some new pillows and baskets. It is a much more grown up room, since she had that other one since she was 2 1/2. I hope this is one she'll like until she's a teenager and wants to paint everything black or something crazy like that!

1st Day of School 2014

We have 3rd graders! By 3rd grade, the first day of school is no big deal. They knew the routine, got up quickly and got ready. They were really excited for their classes. For the first time, Xander and Grace are in the same class! So far, so good, I think. They have Mr. Bennet who is a very cool guy - we like him a lot! Will has Mrs. Maschmann, who we also like. Xander and Grace are also in a different class from Will for math, but no one seems to mind. All in all, we're off to a great start!
