Fall is fun

 Boy and Girl Scouts are in full swing. Here's pictures of them in their uniforms before a meeting. They both meet twice a week, on different nights of course, so it makes for a hectic schedule. The boys have recently fnished selling popcorn. For their first time, they didn't do too bad. Their goal was $600 each!!! That's right folks, we had to help them sell $1200 worth of popcorn!! They didn't quite make it to the goal, they sold around $900 total, but I think that was a pretty darn good job. Thanks to all the family and friends who bought lots of popcorn, I think those sales accounted for 3/4 of our totals. Grace is enjoying Girl Scouts. I actually haven't been to a meeting with her, because her troop meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month, when I have multiples club meetings, and the 3rd Thursday, when I have bells. She's been riding with our neighbors  Mindy and Nyah. I am hoping to go in December and January, though. And look out in February and March, she'll be selling Girl Scout cookies!!

Here are a few fun pictures of them playing in the leaves in the backyard They actually are a big help raking them up (you can see in the 2nd picture the big pile the boys made, before they destroyed it). It was a gorgeous day, about 75 and they had a ball. Unfortunately now, there are still tons of leaves down but they're all wet and gross and the weather is cold. Probably no more leaf playing, just raking and bagging! I'll get some Halloween pictures up soon!! Happy Halloween everyone!

This weekend has been fall break for us. There was no school on Monday or Tuesday, and we've taken full advantage of the time off. Saturday, the kids spent the night at Grandma Pam and Grandpa Mike's house, apparently getting to stay up late watching a movie and sleeping in the "golf" room (the new room my dad added on in the basement with his golf simulator.) Sunday, was a gorgeous day weather-wise and the kids played outside pretty much all day. I think for most of the afternoon, every kid on our block was in our backyard. They went back out after dinner (in the dark) and rode scooters and played with even more kids (some new neighbors). All the parents congregated in a drive-way and talked. The kids were all bummed when we made them go inside and go to bed at 8:30. Monday was another fun day - and another gorgeous weather day. We had lunch with the Niebuhrs, and played outside a lot. Then we hit the pumpkin patch for the first time this season. The multiples club hosted a cook-out dinner at Roca Berry Farm, which is an annual tradition. The kids had a great time and even went through a few haunted houses with Brian. We roasted hot dogs and s'mores, took a hayrack ride and picked 5 pumpkins for carving! We got home and made them take a shower, since they all smelled like wood smoke. They conked out as soon as their heads hit the pillows at 8:30. Good thing we don't have school again tomorrow!! The only thing we have to do tomorrow is a quick dentist appointment in the morning. We are going to lay low and recouperate so we're all ready to start back to school on Wednesday and get our 2nd quarter of the school year off to a great start.  Happy Fall everyone!!

Fall sports are done!

Here are a few pictures from the last day of fall soccer. Football is also over, but no picture from that! As fun as the fall sports were, I'm glad to have our Tuesday nights and Sunday afternoons back. Plus, it was getting cold sitting out there in the evenings. I froze at Grace's last game, by the end it was almost dark and 50 degrees! The kids really are maturing on the field, it's fun to see them get in there and compete. They all scored goals this season and started playing with their teammates (i.e. passing and working together). We'll see what spring brings, whether or not we will do this micro format again, or something else. But, for now, we'll enjoy the rest of the fall and no more sports until spring!
