Halloween

Everything is Awesome!

Our Halloween costume theme this year was Lego movie characters. The kids really liked that movie, so we made their costumes to look like some of those characters.

Our original idea was to make the Lego heads like this but it ended up being way to much work to do three times, plus we needed the hair to look more like the Lego movie characters and we just couldn't figure out how to do it. So, we opted for hats and wigs instead. Grace's wig is actually an adult male "emo" wig, but I put the little ponytail in it and painted the streaks. Xander got a construction worker hat and Will got a police helmet and glasses. I did, however, make the hands. They are foam beer koozies, hot glued to plastic cups with a dowel inserted through both for something to hold on to. Then, I spray painted the entire contraption the right color. They aren't pretty but they look pretty good in the pictures and that's all I was worried about.

Grace as Wyldstyle, Xander as Emmet, and Will as Bad Cop.

Sebastian and Tobias joining us for Trick or Treating on Halloween

Wyldstyle. Her hoodie and pants are just decorated with colored duct tape. She looks so different with black hair! Wyldstyle is the rebel, think-outside-the-box master builder in the movie. She helps Emmet save the day!

If you've never seen the movie, Emmet is the main character.
He's a construction worker who accidentally gets caught up in a plot to rescue the world from the evil Lord Business. Grandma Ellen helped make the costume.

Here's Bad Cop. He turns from bad cop to good cop throughout the movie, it's hilarious. Will just kept his Bad Cop scowl on the whole time, which is pretty authentic! Grandma Ellen made the vest for us.

Another group shot, this time with "Maddie-zilla" at Grandma Pam's house. Good looking bunch.

One more group shot! Happy Halloween!
