Thursday dawned gloomy, cool and later on, very rainy. Our plan was to go to Navy Pier, spend the morning at the Children's Museum and spend part of the afternoon walking around the pier and eating lunch. Well, we did go to the Children's museum and it was such a zoo. It was a great museum, lots of things to do but there were just so many school groups there! It bordered on not fun because of all the kids. Well, then it started raining. And all the school groups with their sack lunches that would have been eating outside on the pier, were all inside. The food court was crowded, almost past capacity and we couldn't do any of the outdoor things that we wanted because of the rain. So, at 12:30, we made the decision to just leave, find somewhere else to eat and head up to the waterpark, about an hour north.
The circus exhibit was kind of fun. There was a hoop (see above), tight ropes, and all sort of other circus things. It was cute!

So, here's pictures from the waterpark. It was a great place. It was called Key Lime Cove, about an hour north of the city in Gurnee, IL (so far north it was only minutes away from Wisconsin). We had a great room and there was lots of things to do in the hotel in addition to the waterpark. They had 6 restaurants, an arcade, shops, a kids spa and a craft center. Unfortunately, all that other stuff costs a ton of money. So, we just stuck to the waterpark. We ended up getting there around 3 on Thursday, and swam until about 6. We ate dinner at the hotel and then went to our room to crash for the night! What a fun place!!
I don't really have any pictures of Friday, but here's a quick rundown of what we did. We got up and spent the morning back at the waterpark, from about 9 - 12:30 or so. We showered up and got dressed and stopped at McDonald's across the street for lunch. After a quick map check while the kids played in the PlayPlace, we were off to my friend Denise's, a good friend from high school. She and her husband live in a west suburb called Huntley. It's about as far west as you can get and still be considered a Chicago suburb. It was a little over an hour to her house from Gurnee, which was a good rest time for everyone! We visited at Denise's while the kids played outside until around 5:30 when we took off to meet one of Brian's friends, Mark and his wife Jess and their 2 yr old daughter Sabrina for dinner. Brian knew Mark from college and they still keep in touch (online gaming and all). I've met his wife a couple of times and I really like her. They live really close to Denise, so we met up with them to eat at Red Robin, then we went back to their house and visited while the kids played. We didn't get back to Denise's house until around 9, which was late for our already tired kids!
