We didn't have any plans on Labor Day weekend, so we decided to take a trip to the Omaha zoo on Sunday. We got up early, packed a picnic lunch and hopped in the car. We got there around 9:30 when people were flocking in huge numbers into the zoo. But, the weather was gorgeous and we didn't really mind the crowds now that we don't deal with strollers. We spent a good amount of time in the Desert Dome and the Kingdom of the Night exhibit under it. If you're never seen the Night exhibit, you should. It is ENORMOUS with tons of bats and other noctural creatures, including gigantic alligators. It was very cool. We also rode the Skyfari and saw other big animals. We ate a picnic lunch, the drove home (with a quick stop at the outlet mall for me!). The kids just like taking out of town trips so they can watch a movie! We had a good time, and enjoyed the gorgeous 70 degree day outside, although we were tired when we got home.
