This was a fun day for us. Our agenda included the kids going to a class on animal detectives. This was funny, the girl taught them how to identify tracks of different animals found in the mountains (elk, deer, beaver, etc.) and also taught them how to identify scat (i.e. poop!) of those animals. Then, they took a hike to look for these things. The kids were so proud of themselves finding elk and deer scat and they found it everywhere for the rest of the day (aren't you proud, Uncle Wes?) We also did a class called "family adventure" which we had to solve problems as a group. The kids were a little young for it, but went with the flow and had a lot of fun. After a quick lunch in the cabin, it was off for a horseback ride. We chose a site off of the YMCA campus (even though they did have one), because 5 year olds could have their own horse (which they couldn't at the Y). The kids had a great time on their own horse, and even got the hang of using the reins when the horse would stop and eat grass (especially Xander's, what a pain that horse was!) We had a great guide, who was really good with them. We were the only ones on this particular ride, so she was able to give them lots of attention. She even stopped in the middle of the ride and took some pictures for me.
After the horse ride, we walked around downtown Estes Park, had ice cream, bought some saltwater taffy then went back to our cabin to relax and have some down time. We went back into Estes for dinner and then back to the cabin to pack up, because we were leaving the next day!

My view of them riding their horses. I was last in line, so I watched them from behind the whole time. They kept turning around and smiling at Brian and I. They had a great time!
