4th of July

Sorry so late on the 4th of July pictures. Here's a quick re-cap of our day, a nice, quiet, not a late evening, 4th of July holiday!

Here's the kids ready for our neighborhood parade. Xander and Grace rode their new birthday scooters, Will rode his bike. We decorated them a little, and they wore 4th of July t-shirts. You can see Will has on a blue necklace. It was so hot and he sweat so much that it rubbed off blue on his neck. He looked like a smurf from behind. The parade started at Cavett and traveled about 4 blocks to a retirement home in our neighborhood. They served the kids a snack and then sang some patriotic songs and such. I think Brian and the kids left a little early because it was so hot. I stayed home and worked on my presentation, which was the next morning. My presentation/last day of class was part of the reason we didn't stay out too late this night.

Later that evening we went to Kara and Wes' house for dinner and fireworks. We had a yummy dinner, then went outside to shoot off fireworks for the kids. It really wasn't terribly hot and the bugs weren't too bad, so it was pleasant.

 Chasing parachutes, always fun!
My dad and Sebastian. He didn't really like the loud booms.
 Love this picture!!

This was a little oops. Brian lit one of those ground bloom flowers, but a new kind that was supposed to zing up in the air. Well....it didn't zing and went sideways into the bushes and started the bushes on fire. Wes drove his gator thing up, which had a water barrel on the back of it and put the fire out, but not before it had burned up that hose you see on the ground. Ha! It was kind of funny and no real damage done!!
